Reading Rainbow Live – 2022 Reboot of Popular Reading Program

A partner in the New York office of Lewis Brisbois, Steven C. Beer serves as national chair of the firm’s entertainment, media, and sports practice. Responsible for negotiating deals for film and television projects., Steven C. Beer holds executive producing credits on the upcoming remake of the children’s reading program Reading Rainbow.

Originally launched in 1983, Reading Rainbow earned more than 250 awards during its 26 years on air, including the George Foster Peabody Award and 26 Emmy Awards. Hosted by LeVar Burton, the series began as a summer series to help curb learning loss outside the classroom, but rapidly became a year-round classroom staple.

The new iteration of the series, Reading Rainbow Live, will feature an ensemble cast of hosts to ensure every child sees themselves represented. The series evolved out of the need for parents to find engaging online content as students studied from home during the pandemic. Reading Rainbow Live will include music and movement, as well as an online platform that allows viewers to interact directly with cast members. Reading Rainbow Live plans to launch in early 2022.
